Prices in California have increased an average of 15 cents per gallon since last week. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $2.61 as of Tuesday. California currently has the highest gas prices in the nation, exceeding even Hawaii, which imports its entire petroleum supply, paid $2.55 per gallon on average.

The Fresno, Merced and Modesto regions also stayed lower than other parts of the state.
